A medivac helicopter reportedly carrying two nurses and a pilot on its way to Mendota Community Hospital crashed in a field in Rochelle, Illinois, Monday night on their way to pick up a patient (Dec 10, 2012). The helicopter was registered to Rockford Memorial Hospital, according to media sources, and went down near U.S. Route 30 and Illinois Route 251. Jenni Rivera, Mexican American music and reality show star, was killed Sunday (Dec. 9, 2012) when the Learjet in which she was a passenger crashed in northern Mexico. While cruising at 41,000 feet in the air, a Dreamliner Boeing 787 was forced to land in New Orleans on a Houston-to-Newark flight reportedly because of mechanical problems. One of United Airlines’ three new Dreamliner aircraft, United Flight 1146, carrying 174 passengers and 10 crew members landed without incident at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012). A French appeals court has overturned manslaughter convictions against Continental Airlines and a mechanic for the crash of an Air France Concorde that killed 113 people on July 25, 2000. The ruling, which came down Nov. 29, 2012, means that, despite their mistakes, they cannot be held criminally responsible for the deaths of the passengers aboard that tragic flight nor for the innocent people killed on the ground.
