Air Blue Plane Crash

The clean up, recovery and investigation of the Air Blue plane crash is continuing outside of Islamabad today while the rest of the world has been offering their condolences to Pakistan and the families of the victims.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reportedly exclaimed their sadness over the "tragic incident."  The Pakistani government announced Thursday to be a national day of mourning.

President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed their sympathy to the families of victims which included two U.S. citizens.

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon also expressed his deep sadness about the tragic air crash and offered  his condolences to Pakistan.  According to a U.N. statement, Mr. Ban reportedly wrote Pakistani Prime Minister Gilani to express the sympathy of the United Nations with Pakistan.

According to reports, about 20 rescue workers worked to recover the remains of more than 100 bodies.  Of those remains, those belonging to 70 victims have reportedly been returned to family members.

Reportedly coordinating the rescue effort is the Civil Aviation Authority.  Also assisting in the investigation, according to reports, is a government-appointed six-member team that includes engineers and technicians.  In addition, a five-member French team consisting of Airbus officials arrived on Friday to play a role in the investigation.
