Mary C. Sweeney
AssociateMary Sweeney is petite in frame, but a giant in civil litigation. Her professionalism is unparalleled having been assigned some of the most complex personal injury and wrongful death cases in the nation. Prior to joining Clifford Laws Offices, Mary worked on the aviation crash case involving professional golfer Payne Stewart. The Learjet in which he was traveling nosedived into a remote area of South Dakota in 1999. She also worked on behalf of numerous families who lost loved ones in the 9/11 tragedy, walking them through the difficult process of recovery from the Victims Compensation Fund set up by Congress.
It is her sensitive, empathetic approach to clients that has led her to work in the area of medical malpractice at Clifford Law Offices. She pores over massive stacks of complex documents, sorting out numerous parties and a trail of negligence that has left families devastated. Always kind, her soft-spoken approach is a source of comfort for victims of negligent conduct as well as for everyone at the firm who lives under the stress and deadlines of these cases. Mary works tirelessly preparing the cases for trial as if each were her only one. She is disciplined, closing her door to focus on every detail, nothing every twist and turn of the patient’s rocky road with hospital and medical personnel.
Mary was schooled on the West Coast, having graduated with a major in political science With Great Distinction from the University of California at Berkeley. She went on to receive her law degree from the University of California’s Hastings College of Law. She has practiced for more than 25 years in the field of medical malpractice, product liability and toxic tort cases, having begun her practice in insurance defense – seeing the picture from a different angle.
