Sean P. Driscoll

Associate

Sean Driscoll’s legal acumen is demonstrated time and again in high-stakes cases on which he works at the firm.  For example, he assisted in settling a case for $2 million on behalf of a Cook County worker who suffered a fractured hip and shoulder after a speeding Metra train derailed in 2005.  He settled the case for a lubricant worker who sustained burns to 19 percent of his body in a truck explosion in Indiana for $1.25 million.  He also assisted in settling a medical malpractice case for $1.4 million on behalf of a newborn who died after surgeons unsuccessfully operated on the baby’s hernia four times.

Sean worked side by side with Robert Clifford on a high-profile case in Cook County Circuit Court which resulted in a $15.8 million verdict in October, 2006, involving an 18-year-old teenager who was left permanently brain damaged after being struck by a YMCA van in a south suburb of Chicago. The case initially was tried by another law firm and a jury reached a not guilty verdict. The trial judge reversed that decision based upon the misconduct of the defense counsel in that initial trial. Clifford Law Offices was then brought into the case and Mr. Driscoll worked nearly round-the-clock for weeks preparing the case for re-trial. Following a two-week trial in which Mr. Driscoll participated in every phase, the new jury returned a verdict on behalf of the young woman.  Sean also worked with Mr. Clifford on the case of an 84-year-old grandfather who died at a Chicago hospital after medical personnel there failed to properly monitor him and he choked to death on his food.  It resulted in a $500,000 verdict.

Sean is working on a variety of cases including the family of a young boy who died when he suffocated in a grain bin in Mount Carroll, Illinois; a journeyman lineman who sustained electrical burns to his hands when an energized cable failed in a defective transformer; a woman who sustained a fractured shoulder when riding the O’Hare Airport Transit System; the family of a pedestrian who was killed when an AT&T van collided with an emergency response vehicle; and the family of a 15-year-old boy who was tragically killed when navigating an inflatable obstacle course.  He also is busy working on the case of a woman severely injured in a boating accident on the Illinois canal and numerous complex construction liability cases. He handles each case with thoughtfulness and thoroughness.  He works hard for his clients and his strategizing and working through the cases elicits respect by his peers on both sides of the aisle.

Before joining Clifford Law Offices, Sean clerked for Judge Michael J. Murphy, Presiding Judge of the County Division in Cook County. Sean attended the University of Dayton where he studied Communications and Political Science, graduating cum laude. He went on to DePaul University College of Law where he was elected Vice President of the Student Bar Association of the Evening Division. He was a Moot Court Society Member and a finalist in the Client Counseling Competition. Besides the honor of making the Dean's List, Sean was the CALI winner for Legal Writing, achieving the highest grade in the class. He was the recipient of the Jack Madson Graduate Scholarship as well as a recipient of the DePaul University Faculty and Staff Endowment Scholarship.  Mr. Driscoll was named one of the Top 40 Attorneys Under 40 years of age by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, a well deserved distinction.

Clifford Law Offices is proud of Sean Driscoll’s work at the firm.
